This policy explains how we collect and use personal data through our website, dmdroofingandbuilding.co.uk, and in the course of providing our roofing, drone survey, and building services.

2. The personal data we collect

When you contact us or request a quote, we collect your name, phone number, email address, property address, and details of the work you are enquiring about.

When we carry out work for you, we collect your contact and property details, records of surveys, quotations, correspondence, photographs of the work, invoices, and payment records.

When we carry out drone roof surveys, we capture aerial photographs and video of your roof and property. Drone imagery may incidentally capture neighbouring properties or people in the vicinity. We take reasonable steps to minimise this: our operators plan flights to focus on the survey property, and incidental footage of identifiable people or neighbouring homes is not used or shared, and is deleted or obscured where practical.

When you visit our website, our website provider may collect technical data such as your IP address, browser type, and pages visited, through cookies and similar technologies. See section 8 (Cookies).

We do not knowingly collect data from children, and we do not collect special category data (such as health information) in the ordinary course of our business.

3. How we use your data and our lawful bases

5. How long we keep your data

We keep enquiry data for up to 2 years after our last contact. Customer records, contracts, survey reports, and drone imagery relating to completed work are kept for 6 years after the work is finished, in line with limitation periods for legal claims and any guarantee we provide. Accounting records are kept for 6 years as required by law. Data is securely deleted when no longer needed.

6. Your rights

You have the right to: access a copy of your personal data; have inaccurate data corrected; have your data erased in certain circumstances; restrict or object to our use of your data (including direct marketing, which we will always stop on request); and data portability where applicable.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in section 1. We will respond within one month. There is normally no fee.

7. Data security

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including secure devices and accounts, limited access to customer records, and reputable hosting providers. Your data is stored in the UK or in countries with adequate data protection safeguards.

Our website uses cookies necessary for it to function, and may use analytics cookies to help us understand how visitors use the site. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Our website contains links to third-party services such as Instagram; those services have their own privacy policies and we are not responsible for their practices.
